Tedeschi Trucks returned to the Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut on Wednesday to a close two-night run as part of the ongoing Fireside LIVE tour.
The stripped-down version of the Tedeschi Trucks Band lineup delivered an engaging mix of beloved originals alongside time-tested covers at the Playhouse’s outdoor stage, starting with TTB’s own “Don’t Know What It Means”. Moving through Made Up My Mind tracks “Do I Look Worried” and “It’s So Heavy”, Tedeschi Trucks worked through 2019 single “High & Mighty” before exploring vocalist Mike Mattison‘s solo catalog with “Life Is Crazy”.
Namesake guitarist Derek Trucks then got to dig into the Eric Clapton composition “Coming Home” prior to a pairing of Susan Tedeschi‘s “Just Won’t Burn” and TTB’s own “Idle Wind” that brought the first frame to a close.
Returning for set two, Tedeschi Trucks opened with Derek Trucks Band‘s “Down Don’t Bother Me” before a trip down south with a nod to The Allman Brothers Band‘s famous take on Ellmore James‘ “Done Somebody Wrong”. The ensemble returned to its original catalog with “Made Up My Mind” and the always-welcome “Midnight In Harlem” followed by “Just As Strange”. Susan Tedeschi stole the show, as always, with her heavenly vocals on John Prine‘s “Angel From Montgomery”, which bled into the Grateful Dead‘s “Sugaree”, before the whole band came together for “Bound For Glory” and finally a set-closing “I Want More”.
Taking the Ridgefield Playhouse outdoor stage one last time, Tedeschi Trucks opted for an encore of Susan’s “Anyhow” to close out the two-night run. Scroll down to see a gallery of images from Tedeschi Trucks at Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday courtesy of photographer Andrew Blackstein.
