Last night, Tedeschi Trucks Band‘s 2018 Wheels Of Soul tour kept spinning with a stop in Virginia at Vienna, VA’s Filene Center at Wolf Trap. Much like at their previous performance at CMAC on Tuesday, Tedeschi Trucks Band welcomed several of the tour’s supporting musicians onstage during their headlining set.

Following the tour’s customary opening performances by Drive-By Truckers and Marcus King Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band took the stage for their headlining set, delivering staples like “Shame”, “Made Up Mind”, “Don’t Drift Away” and “Part Of Me”, before working through two Bob Dylan covers including “Down In The Flood”, a recently revived tour staple, and “Lord Protect My Child”, played for just the second time since 2012.

“Idle Wind” was up next with a well-rounded drum solo. From there, the remainder of the performance was a guest-filled rock show. Susan Tedeschi invited Marcus King up for a cover of Charles Segar‘s “Key To The Highway”, as King and Derek Trucks traded off roaring solos in their signature Southern styles. Marcus King continued on with the band as they worked through a cover of Joe Tex’s “Show Me”. The friends kept coming from there as Marcus King Band keyboardist DeShawn Alexander assisted TTB’s Kofi Burbridge on keys for a beautiful rendition of “Bound For Glory”. A third Bob Dylan cover of the night, “Going, Going, Gone”, was the closer of the set, as Drive-By Trucker’s Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley joined Trucks and Tedeschi on guitar for a memorable closer. Finally Tedeschi Trucks Band returned for their encore with a cover of Derek and The Dominos‘ “Tell The Truth”, before moving into the upbeat Truck’s tune “Get What You Deserve”.
