On Wednesday and Thursday night, The Disco Biscuits opened their February touring schedule with a pair of shows at Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground featuring support from bassist/bandleader Karina Rykman. The two-night stint proved to be a collaborative family affair.

On Wednesday, after opening the night with her own eponymous trio, Rykman joined in with The Disco Biscuits to help round out their first of two sets. Karina took over bass duties for a rowdy “Feeling Twisted” while Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein shifted over to a SubSynth keyboard.

On Thursday, The Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner returned the favor during Karina’s opening set, joining in on keys for five songs including Rykman originals “Joyride”, “City Kids”, and “No Occasion” as well as covers of “Psycho Killer” (Talking Heads) and “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House” (LCD Soundsystem). Later, the Biscuits kept the familial atmosphere going by welcoming Marc Brownstein’s son, Zach Brownstein, to play drums on “Vassillios” and inviting Dopapod keyboardist Eli Winderman to join Magner on keys for “Twisted in the Road”.
