On Friday, beloved indie-rock outfit The National brought its ongoing tour to Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, CT for a performance featuring support from The Beths.
The setlist pulled heavily from the band’s 2023 LP, The First Two Pages of Frankenstein, with six selections from the album while 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me got similar love with six songs of its own. Among the highlights of the performance was a guest appearance by Nick Lloyd, a producer of various early The National records and a lecturer at nearby Yale University, on a rendition of the title track to the band’s 2004 Cherry Tree EP.
