Towards the end of 2015, Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart shocked the scene by announcing the formation of a brand new touring band, Dead & Company. The most shocking part of the band was its guitarist John Mayer, and that shock only multiplied when fans heard just how comfortable he sounded in the role of lead guitarist. With Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti rounding out the crew on bass and keyboards, respectively, Dead & Company captured the energy of the Dead’s 50th anniversary and spread it throughout the country on two major tours, in Fall 2015 and Summer 2016.
As the band kept up their performing pursuits, they continually added new songs to their catalog. In total, Dead & Company has played 106 songs, a majority of them Grateful Dead originals with many of the band’s classic covers thrown into the mix. Fortunately, Osty Gale put together an extensive playlist capturing Dead & Co’s debut rendition of each of those songs for us to enjoy.
Take a listen back to all 106 debuts (from newest to oldest) in the playlist below!
