Toyesauce has assembled an all-star team of New Orleans’ finest for a new single, “Love Is Gonna Get Ya”. The latest release from the dynamic studio project led by Leon Toye features George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Stanton Moore and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph (Galactic), Big Sam (Dirty Dozen Brass Band), Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), and more.

The new Toyesauce track comes thundering in with the unshakable rhythms of Stanton Moore and George Porter Jr. before the choir of Jelly, Amber Woodhouse, Jannelle Means, and Kevin McKinney delivers a stern warning to look out, or else “Love Is Gonna Get Ya”. A sterling horn section of Jeff Coffin, Big Sam, and Emmanuel Echem gives the prophecy some extra oomph, as the instrumentalists lock into the song’s central funky groove—with Toye carving out some space for a few brief blues runs on the guitar.

Like many previous Toyesauce singles, “Love Is Gonna Get Ya” was recorded between Nashville and New Orleans—carrying a bit of each city’s musical DNA into the booth. As a strictly studio project, one of Toyesauce’s greatest strengths lies in its ability to recruit an ever-evolving lineup, cook up a new groove that feels native to NOLA, Nashville, Austin, and beyond, and splice it together to sound like the musicians were all sharing the same stage. It’s no surprise that Toyesauce was born at the musical and cultural summit that is New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

“Love Is Gonna Get Ya” marks Toyesauce’s second standalone single of 2025, following February’s hard-hitting instrumental “The Burglar“. Last year, Toyesauce recruited another venerable krewe of NOLA staples including Porter, Ivan NevilleTony Hall, Moore, Joseph, and Big Sam to recreate The Meters’ “Give It What You Can”.
