With the release of his new album just two weeks away, New Orleans jazz institution Trombone Shorty has shared the album’s fourth and final single, “Everybody in the World”. Featuring the explosive sounds of New Breed Brass Band, the song explores the universal human need to be loved and accepted.
Trombone Shorty recently won his first Grammy Award for his contributions as a songwriter and featured artist on Jon Batiste‘s Album of the Year, We Are, and he also joined Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews, Jonas Brothers, and Little Big Town to perform at the Grammy Salute to Paul Simon, which will air on CBS later this year.
Having previously shared “Come Back”, “Lifted”, and a music video for “What It Takes” featuring fellow Louisiana musician Lauren Daigle on vocals, Trombone Shorty has offered fans the final preview of his new album, Lifted, before its April 29th release with the catchy and uplifting “Everybody in the World”. “Everybody in the world is looking for everyday love,” the song reminds listeners as brass blares over a second-line/hip-hop drum beat.
In addition to Lauren Daigle and New Breed Brass Band, Lifted, will feature a guest appearance by blues-rocker Gary Clark Jr. These artists join an extensive list of collaborators who have worked with Trombone Shorty in the past, including Pharrell, Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Foo Fighters, Zac Brown, and Ringo Starr.
To celebrate the release of his new album, Trombone Shorty will host his Treme Threauxdown event featuring Joan Jett, Gary Clark Jr., Tank and the Bangas, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, David Shaw (The Revivalists), James Andrews, and more on April 30th at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, LA. He will then have the honor of closing New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 8th before embarking on his Voodoo Threauxdown Tour, which will feature Tank and the Bangas, Big Freedia, Cyril Neville The Uptown Ruler, The Soul Rebels, and a tribute to funk pioneers The Meters led by founding bassist George Porter Jr. and Dumpstaphunk. The traveling festival will kick off June 10th with stops at NYC’s Central Park Summerstage on June 13th, Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 28th, and The Hollywood Bowl on August 10th.
