Twiddle drummer Brook Jordan on Wednesday revealed the reason behind his recent absence from the kit. Jordan stated he recently attended an in-patient treatment program for substance abuse, and that he will not perform on the band’s upcoming April tour.

In his stead for the remainder of the tour will be Adrian Tramontano, who has already been filling in for Jordan on drums at Twiddle tour dates since late February.

In a lengthy post to the band’s social media pages on Thursday, Jordan wrote, “Frist off, I’d like to start by saying that I am truly sorry for not making this statement sooner. As my friends, fans, and family, you deserve an explanation. …It was time for a change, I was drowning. Lost at sea. It was time for me to face the fact that the only way for me to make it safely back to the surface, was to ask for help. Words cannot express my gratitude for the ones I love throwing me a life vest. The swim back to shore would surely be a long, grueling journey, but I had hope.”

Jordan revealed that he spent three weeks at the Sana at Stowe Treatment Center in Vermont. In his absence, the band’s “amazing, dedicated, and ridiculously talented friend” Tramontano filled in for various gigs, including the band’s recent three-night run at Brooklyn Bowl. Jordan wrote that “it’s with a heavy heart that I need to let it be known that I will not be joining the guys on the road for this upcoming April Tour. Although it has been a tough decision to make, I believe that it is for the best.”

“I am not ashamed,” Jordan wrote. “Substance Abuse has such an ugly, misunderstood connotation and stereotype surrounding its true, underlying causes. If you feel like you’re even starting to get in over your head, please don’t wait. ‘Asking for help isn’t giving up. It’s refusing to give up.'”

“It feels so good to say that I’m finally feeling like myself again,” Jordan closed. “Back to the true Brook. With each passing day, I feel more clear headed, focused, and motivated. This path won’t always be an easy one to navigate, but I’m hoping that there will continue to be brighter, blue skies ahead. Thank you all for everything. I can’t wait to be back in full force, playing for all you beautiful beings again, so soon.”
