Multi-instrumentalist Ty Segall has shared a collaborative single with Wand frontman Cory Hanson, titled “She’s A Beam”. The Fuzz founder and Hanson also included a B-side, dubbed “Milk Bird Flyer”, that is unavailable to stream without purchase.

This isn’t the first time the two musicians have worked together, as Hanson is a member of Segall’s backing band, The Muggers. Additionally, Wand is signed to Segall’s GOD? Records label, who released the band’s Laughing Matter album last year.

“She’s A Beam” opens with a floating psychedelic feel that one might find on Revolver, as Segall’s vocals are put through some kind of psilocybin-drenched tube. The two musicians go back and forth, trading delicate guitar melodies as Segall repeats “She is a beam.” After a couple minutes it sounds like the song will just drone on in this state of psychedelic bliss (and there’s nothing wrong with that), but then around 2:15 minutes in the song takes a dramatic turn. The guitars shift to the back as a stop-start drum takes over the rhythm and the strings play catch up. Whatever acid daydream Segall and Hanson were having has now become a fevered terror as the song begins to embody the chaotic cross-genre pollination that Segall has perfected by blending punk, stoner metal, and whatever else he can fit in his musical pot.
