Tyler Childers returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre this week for his annual tour-closing pilgrimage to the famed Morrison, CO venue, staging a two-night run on Wednesday and Thursday. Falling nearly one year to the day since his last trip to Red Rocks (and the one before that), the Kentucky singer-songwriter had plenty to catch up on with the sold-out crowds.

The chief development for Childers since previously visiting Morrison is the release of his latest album, Rustin’ In The Rain. Even with the new LP on shelves across the country, Childers didn’t plug it too hard and only included three of the seven tracks across the two varied setlists. He even nixed his cover of S.G. Goodman‘s “Space and Time”, a recent live staple also found on Rustin’, perhaps because Goodman was there herself and included it in her opening set. Childers did, however, bring out the fellow Kentuckian for sit-ins on “Way of the Triune God” on both nights, with the second appearance closing out the run.
