Umphrey’s McGee closed their long holiday weekend run of shows throughout the northeast—and their summer tour as a whole—with a performance at the Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY on Sunday night. The performance also marked the end to the band’s summer tour with BIG Something, as the turn of August in September sadly marks the end of outdoor concert season with the coming arrival of fall.

The band opened Sunday’s tour-closing performance with “Nothing Too Fancy”, which transitioned right into a funky rendition of the Karl Engelmann (Mother Vinegar)-penned “Bright Lights, Big City”. The opening half of the show continued with “Breaker”, “Professor Wormbog”, and “Triangle Tear”. The band closed the first set with their second two-song segue of the night when “Den” transitioned into “Wife Soup” to send the show into set break.

Umphrey’s returned to the stage to kick off the second set with “Phil’s Farm” and “Higgins”. They continued with a four-part, two-song combination of “In the Kitchen” into “Ocean Billy”, which saw the band return to close both “Kitchen” and “Ocean” before wrapping the lengthy segue. The second set kept rocking with another multi-song combination of “Women Wine & Song” into “Cut The Cable” before finally closing with “Nothing Too Fancy”.
The band’s one-song encore heard them send fans into the night with a show-closing cover of AC/DC‘s “Thunderstruck”, marking the first Umphrey’s rendition of the rock classic since 2015.
