After an incredibly successful performance at Peach Music Festival last summer, Butch Trucks & Friends officially banded together as Les Brers. The band’s roots run extremely deep in Allman Brothers blood, with over half of them being members of the since-retired, forty-five-year-old southern rock band.

In addition to Allman Brothers’ drummer Butch Trucks, the band is complete with ABB’s latest rhythm section, Jaimoe, Oteil Burbridge, and Marc Quinones, as well as Jack Pearson, who played guitar from 1997-99, his guitar mate Pat BergesonBruce Katz on keys, and Lamar Williams, Jr., son of bassist Lamar Williams who played with ABB from 1972-76, on vocals.

After revealing their exciting returns to Wanee Festival and Peach Festival this summer, Les Brers announced they would also bring the show back to ABB hometown Macon, GA for a two-night run at the Cox Capitol Theatre, as a benefit concert for the Big House Museum. Last night marked the first of the two nights, where they fearlessly played Allman Brothers staples “Jessica,” “Dreams,” “Trouble No More,” “Blue Sky,” and “Whipping Post,” with smiles that extended from ear to ear.

In a post from Butch Trucks’ personal Facebook page, he wrote: “WOW!!!!!! Past two days have been full of Les Brers tweeking some songs but most of all jamming. Jamming like I haven’t jammed since before Duane died. We got something very serious brewing in Macon once again. We play tonight at the Cox Capital Theater and tomorrow night also. I would suggest being there if you are able. Just might be an historical event.” You heard the man. Tickets for tonight’s show available here.
