Rumors circulating around John Mayer’s involvement with the Grateful Dead have finally come to a head today, as three of the Core Four members – Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart – have announced a show on Halloween night at Madison Square Garden. The trio will bring along Mayer, as well as keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and bassist Oteil Burbridge.

The rumors started back in April, when Billboard reported that Mayer would be touring with some of the Grateful Dead members. The guitarist was seen at all five ‘Fare Thee Well’ shows earlier this summer as well.

There has been some speculation as to the official name of the group, as a Village Voice ad shows “Dead & Company” but a Ticketmaster link suggests that the band will be called Los Muertos, Spanish for ‘The Dead’.

Meanwhile, Phil Lesh is the only “Core Four” member who won’t be participating. Lesh is scheduled to play a six-night Halloween run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, with two different Phil & Friends ensembles.
