[10/13/25]: A moving new concert film honoring the late, great John Prine is headed to the big screen this fall. You Got Gold – A Celebration of John Prine will premiere at New York City’s Quad Cinema with a series of screenings from November 28th–December 4th, 2025. Fans can get a first look at film with its newly released official trailer.

Filmed on October 10th, 2022—what would have been Prine’s 76th birthday—at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, the feature captures an unforgettable gathering of artists, friends, and family celebrating one of America’s most revered songwriters. The all-star lineup includes Bonnie Raitt, Bob Weir, Brandi Carlile, Tyler Childers, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Jason Isbell, Kurt Vile, and many more.

Interwoven with behind-the-scenes stories and heartfelt performances, You Got Gold reflects both the humor and humanity that defined Prine’s songwriting, as well as the spirit of community that surrounded the beloved artist, who became one of the most influential songwriters of his generation with songs like “Angel from Montgomery”, “Hello in There”, and “Paradise”.

The film was directed by Michael John Warren and produced by Fiona Whelan Prine, John Prine’s wife and president of his Oh Boy Records label, in conjunction with the You Got Gold: Celebrating the Songs of John Prine concert series—an annual Nashville tradition launched after Prine’s passing in 2020. The multi-night event brought together generations of musicians to honor Prine’s legacy through performances and philanthropy benefiting the Hello in There Foundation, which supports communities that were close to his heart. That tradition came to an end this past weekend with the fourth and final edition, which included special tributes at venues across Nashville, including a special birthday concert at the Ryman on October 10th.
