Trey Anastasio Band continued their ongoing 2020 winter tour on Thursday night with their first of two performances at The Observatory North Park in San Diego, CA. The San Diego concert followed a pair of tour-opening gigs at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY last weekend.

The first set kicked off with an energetic “Set Your Soul Free” before the Trey Anastasio-led octet continued through “Mozambique”, “Cayman Review”, “Curlew’s Call”, and “Love Is What We Are”, the circa-2017 Anastasio original debuted by TAB at The Capitol Theatre on 1/10. A run through Page McConnell-penned Phish instrumental “Magilla” was up next, followed by a searing “Dark and Down” and a funky “Camel Walk”. The first frame ramped up from there with “Rise/Come Together”, “Gotta Jibboo”, and a set-closing “Push On ‘Til The Day”.

Much like the first set, a Phish/TAB crossover in “Everything’s Right” got set two started on a high note. The set continued from there with TAB favorite “Alaska” followed by a rendition of “Last Tube”. The fourth “Greyhound Rising” since 2015 came next, followed by “Valentine” and “Blaze On”. From there, Jennifer Hartswick took lead vocals for her patented TAB rendition of Gorillaz‘s “Clint Eastwood” before Trey led the band through a fiery “Sand” set closer.

The band returned after a brief break for a four-song encore. First, Natalie Cressman led the way on “1977”. The Latin vibes continued from there with “Burlap Sack and Pumps” before “Ether Sunday” and “First Tube” brought the night to a close.

Trey Anastasio Band will head to Los Angeles on Friday, January 17th for their first of two nights in the City of Angels this weekend. For a full list of upcoming Trey Anastasio Band 2020 winter tour dates, head here.
