It’s been a week of unconventional announcements for LCD Soundsystem. After debuting its latest single “X-Ray Eyes” exclusively via NTS Radio, the band has revealed a new album for 2025 via a lineup announcement for Primavera Sound Barcelona.

The Brooklyn electronic art-rock band will play the 2025 festival in Spain alongside top acts Charli xcxChappell RoanSabrina CarpenterFKA twigs, Fontaines D.C.Beach House, LCD collaborators IDLES, and more. Buried in the lineup announcement is the line, “If this is a celebration, then let’s embrace LCD Soundsystem’s All My Friends as the official anthem of Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025. Almost twenty years after giving the world this dance-rock ode to friendship, the influential band led by James Murphy will come back to the festival (and with a new album!) to make it clear that, although they are an inherent part of our best memories, their time is always now.”

LCD has yet to confirm the album through its official channels, though the band has also still not confirmed “X-Ray Eyes” even though the track is available to stream here. “X-Ray Eyes” marked the group’s first new release since 2022 standalone single “new body rhumba“, and the nostalgic pixelated synth sound is reminiscent of early LCD Soundsystem. The group’s last full-length album, American Dream, arrived in 2017.

This revelation comes on the precipice of the band’s eight-show Los Angeles residency at Shrine Expo Hall (10/31–11/3) and Hollywood Palladium (11/7–11/10). After that, LCD Soundsystem will come home to New York for the band’s annual holiday residency, featuring 12 concerts at Queens’ Knockdown Center (11/21–11/24, 12/5–12/8, 12/12–12/15) with an array of openers [get tickets].

LCD Soundsystem famously broke up in 2011 following an arena-sized send-off at Madison Square Garden but reformed four years later. Since then, the group has released only one album of new original music—American Dream—and existed mostly as a live band, dropping a few sporadic singles, collaborations, and remixes.
