The inaugural Fool’s Paradise was a great success, assembling some of the greatest musical heroes in the scene to little ol’ St. Augustine. From Lettuce and GRiZ to Chris Robinson’s Soul Revue and The Nth Power, the weekend was refreshingly diverse in live performances and first-time collaborations. With the oldest city in America overtaken by funk fools, the vibe was so contagious that even the birds were singin’ a new tune.

Perhaps one of the most talked about bands of the weekend was Vulfpeck. If you ask them, they’re just a German-American rhythm section. If you ask us, they hold the future of popular music. With no real plans of hitting the road, ever, it was an honor for everyone in attendance to kick off the quartet’s festival-filled summer in such an intimate setting.

Vulfpeck played two sets at Fool’s Paradise. They kicked off Friday’s late night after-shows at the Elk’s Lodge, hosting singer Antwaun Stanley for a number of tunes, along with Snarky Puppy‘s Cory Henry, and Lettuce members Eric Krasno, Adam Deitch, and Ryan Zoidis.

“Open Your Eyes” feat. Cory Henry

“Conscious Club”

“Wait For The Moment”

“Outro” feat. Ryan Zoidis

Vulfpeck officially broke the seal Saturday afternoon with another incredible set. Not only did they deliver a second, knee-slappingly good performance a mere twelve hours after the Elk’s Lodge throwdown, but they also helped officiate the marriage of two very happy fans who said their lovely vows on stage before thousands of people.

“1612” > “Wait For The Moment” with Antwaun Stanley

“Up On Cripple Creek” with Cory Henry on drums

“Funky Duck” with Antwaun Stanley

It’s safe to say Vulfpeck had a really great weekend at Fool’s Paradise. In fact, we’re pretty sure Woody Goss is still in St. Augustine…
