Cleveland’s native sons Broccoli Samurai made fans of Rick and Morty, the hit Adult Swim animated series, take notice at the recent Funk Fest in Punta Gorda when they laid down a spot-on cover of the enormously successful show’s theme song, a tune which has been in their live rotation for some time now. The song was slipped into the middle of their well-received set at the Florida festival just as a spectacular sunset gave them a beautiful backdrop to play against. Broccoli Samurai is no stranger to the festival stages, as they have notched dozens of appearances around the country since their founding in 2010.

Broccoli Samurai joined a fantastic lineup of funk acts both new and old over the course of two days in sunny Punta Gorda. Other artists on the 2018 bill included Tower of Power, Blackberry Smoke, Turkuaz, The Soul Rebels, Here Come The Mummies, Joe Marcinek, Wild Adriatic, Resinated, Band of Heathens, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, Voodoo Visionary, Gang of Thieves, and Reverend Barry & The Funk.
