[4/27/21] Billy & The Kids will reunite for a three-night run of livestreams from Kauai, HI May 7th–9th, the supergroup announced on Tuesday. The shows will celebrate Bill Kreutzmann‘s 75th birthday on May 7th and will see the group—featuring keyboardist Aron Magner (The Disco Biscuits), bassist Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green, Electric Beethoven), and guitarist Tom Hamilton (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead)—joined by Billy Strings and other special guests to be announced.

The shows will take place from an undisclosed location on the island of Kauai, where the Grateful Dead drummer resides. The streams will air via FANS and promise “special guests” and surprises.

In a light-hearted video posted across social media, the ensemble of jam musicians communicates across the ocean using a joint in a bottle. Heeding Kreutzmann’s distress signal, The Kids gather together and make plans to meet Bill The Drummer in Hawaii. Watch it below.

This announcement comes a year after Billy & The Kids’ reunion during California’s Skull & Roses festival was derailed by the pandemic. The quartet was also set to appear at The Peach Music Festival as well as perform a late-night show during New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
