Due to popular demand, Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin have added The Hanukkah Sessions to all streaming services. Both 2020 and 2021 editions of the holiday-themed cover series are available now on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more.
The Hanukkah Sessions began in 2020 amid the height of the pandemic. Unable to tour, Grohl and Kurstin linked up ahead of Hanukkah and recorded eight songs for each night of the holiday, paying tribute to the fantastic Jewish artists in a variety of musical genres. 2020 saw the duo cover the Beastie Boys (“Sabotage”), Drake (“Hotline Bling”), Mountain (“Mississippi Queen”), Peaches (“F– The Pain Away”), Bob Dylan (“Rainy Day Women #12 & 35”), Elastica (“Connection”), The Knack (“Frustrated”), and The Velvet Underground (“Rock & Roll”).
While 2021 saw the return of touring for Foo Fighters (and the industry at large), Grohl and Kurstin couldn’t resist celebrating Hanukkah in a similar fashion. On Sunday, November 28th, the duo returned with a metal-infused cover of Lisa Loeb‘s “Stay (I Missed You)”. Just as they did in 2020, Grohl and Kurstin released eight covers over as many nights, pulling from the catalogs of Ramones (“Blitzkreig Bop”), Barry Manilow (“Copacabana”), Van Halen (“Jump”), Amy Winehouse (“Take The Box”), Billy Joel (“Big Shot”), The Clash (“Train In Vain”), and KISS (“Rock And Roll All Nite”.)
