Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin wound down the Hanukkah Sessions with a night seven performance of “Frustrated” by The Knack. Shared on Thursday, this cover of the 1979 hit comes as the Foo Fighters frontman and his producer’s next-to-last video.
Launched on the first night of the Festival of Lights last Thursday, the series features Grohl and Kurstin covering a different song by a different Jewish artist each night. So far, the duo has paid tribute to Beastie Boys, Drake, Mountain, Peaches, Bob Dylan, and Elastica.

In this take on the lesser-known track from the group behind “My Sharona”, Grohl and Kurstin once again attack the song with both barrels. By this point, the Hanukkah Sessions have assumed a fairly rigid musical format with the only outlier being the unexpected cover choices the duo have taken up from artists like Drake, Peaches, or Elastica.
Yet, they still manage to fit a surprise or two in this cover of “Frustrated”, most notably Kurstin’s wild keyboard solo that comes in about halfway through. Grohl, for his part, gives an authentic vocal performance that actually sounds like himself, as opposed to his almost-mocking Beastie Boys impression that began the series. The pair noted in the video’s description,
Tonight we’re featuring 4 nice Jewish boys whose biggest hit was a song about a nice Jewish girl… “My Shalom-a” or something like that… We’re huge fans of New Wave (as well as the “old wave” that came after Moses parted the Red Sea)…so we were psyched to get to cover one of our favorites…The Knack!
