Dead & Company will extend their Sphere residency and the Eagles are due to announce a run of shows at the groundbreaking new venue, according to a new report from the New York Post.
The paper that previously detailed Phish and Dead & Company’s Sphere residencies before they were officially announced cites sources claiming that two Sphere announcements are imminent. First, Dead & Company have allegedly extended their Sphere residency, which currently includes 24 shows in May–July, with an additional ten shows in August. This would explain why Bob Weir suddenly postponed his August shows with Wolf Bros and the National Symphony Orchestra last month.
Second, per to the Post’s report, “sources close to the situation” indicated the Eagles will play a residency over 10 weekends in September through December. No details about the number of shows is available, and Sphere spokesperson declined to address on the rumor, saying, “We do not comment on any artists performing at Sphere except for those who have been announced.”
The Eagles began their farewell tour, The Long Goodbye Tour, last year and have upcoming dates in the U.K. and The Netherlands in May and June. The tour is expected to run into 2025.
U2 was the first band to perform at Sphere and recently concluded its sold-out 40-show U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency. Phish is set to follow the Irish rockers with four shows in April.
