Death Kings returned on Tuesday with a supercharged new single, “Welcome To Hell”. The hard-driving track from the metal power trio featuring bassist Ryan Stasik (Umphrey’s McGee), guitarist/vocalist Mike Gantzer (Aqueous), and drummer Mikey Carubba (formerly of Turkuaz) arrives ahead of a Northeast tour.

“Welcome To Hell” marks Death Kings’ sophomore single after the band proudly heralded its own arrival with “March of the Kings” back in August. Prior to that, Gantzer offered a preview of the still yet-unreleased track, “Fight“, while on Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast back in March 2021. “Welcome To Hell” features more of the high-octane, punk-meets-metal-in-the-ring mentality as these jam scene regulars embrace their heavier sides.

“The song is called ‘Welcome To Hell’, and was inspired by a sick bass riff that Stasik sent me over quarantine—we called upon some Nine Inch Nails and Metallica vibes for this one,” “Uncle Mike” Gantzer told Live For Live Music.

Formed during the pandemic, Death Kings pays homage to the heavy influences that manifest themselves through each artist’s respective catalog. Stasik and Gantzer previously collaborated on the Green Day tribute project Dookie alongside Stasik’s UM bandmate, drummer Kris Myers, but Death Kings goes even further with original, hard-driving, heavy metal compositions.

Death Kings’ upcoming series of fives concerts across three states will mark the new project’s first extended run of shows since making its live debut at Summer Camp Music Festival this past summer. The band’s jaunt begins with an Umphrey’s McGee pre-party in Buffalo, NY (1/19) followed by afterparties in Syracuse, NY (1/21); Albany, NY (1/22); and Boston, MA (2/11) before a newly-added after-party in Columbus, OH (2/17).
