Two weeks after delivering its third album, Cold As WeissDelvon Lamarr Organ Trio is back with a new single, “Fried Soul”. The track is out now on digital services as well as on shelves in record stores as a 45 RPM single.

DLO3 slips right back into the groove with “Fried Soul”. The Meters-like groove finds guitarist Jimmy James playing the role of George Porter Jr. as he plots down thick bassnotes. The show belongs to namesake Delvon Lamarr, however, as he provides a pungent walking organ lead for the rest of the band to follow. Between the vintage funk flow, “Fried Soul” builds up to an old-school, rock n’ roll crescendo courtesy of James’ more classic influences.

“‘Fried Soul’ takes you back to a time of the juke joints, when those steamy grooves made you want to shake your shimmy,” Lamarr said in a statement.

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio’s latest album, Cold As Weiss, was the band’s first full-length release featuring drummer Dan Weiss (The Sextones). With a cemented lineup firmly in place, the band has continued to explore the melting pot of influences that bring together classic funk, R&B, acid jazz, psychedelia, and more into an original musical concoction.
