Back in August, Bob Weir joined Edie Brickell & New Bohemians during their set at LOCKN’ 2019 in Arrington, VA. With Weir in tow, Edie and company performed a rendition of the traditional “Deep Elem Blues”, a subtle nod to the band’s Texas roots.
The surprise guest appearance featured some improvised lines from Brickell which directly referenced the collaboration (“I went down to Deep Elem with Mr. Weir/All I could feel was love in the atmosphere”). Thanks to a newly shared pro-shot video courtesy of Relix, you can now relive the Weir/Brickell collaboration on the device of your choice. Check it out below:

The sit-in with Brickell was just one of many Weir guest spots throughout the weekend at LOCKN’ 2019. Later that same evening, Weir joined Old Crow Medicine Show on renditions of “Mexicali Blues”, “Cumberland Blues”, and “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?”. He also jumped in on sets by Oteil & Friends, Twiddle, and more in addition to his own festival-closing two-set Bob Weir and Wolf Bros show on Sunday. That’s not to mention his couch-bound “sit-in” with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead on the festival’s opening night.
