New Haven, CT-based jam quartet Eggy has released a new drone-shot video for “Watercolor Days”, which they dedicated to the band’s late namesake, Edward “Eggy” Torrence.
As the band noted in the video description,
People often ask us how we came up with our name, “who is Eggy” or “what is Eggy”? Simple answer, Eggy is the nickname of our lifelong friend, Edward “Eggy” Torrence, [whose] life we celebate today on what would have been his 27th birthday.
While Edward may no longer be with us physically to excitedly display his newest project, resonate a home with piano, or share a bag of salt and vinegar chips – his father told us that we can “open our eyes just a little bit wider”, and see that he is still with us everywhere.
We wrote the song, “Watercolor Days”, shortly after Edward’s passing as our constant reminder of these words, and as encouragement to look well beyond what just our eyes can see. We hope you can find a home in these words when you need them most!
The song initially appeared as the title track on the band’s debut album in 2019 and has since become a fan-favorite as the four-piece continues to grow from a regional mainstay to a nationally touring act. Jake Brownstein‘s vocals bridge themes of togetherness and living in the moment while Michael Goodman (bass), Dani Battat (keys), and Alex Bailey (drums) all offer excellent harmonies on the song’s chorus.

Filmed “on the Farm” with drone footage by Drogo LLC, the band created the perfect setting for “Watercolor Days'” landscape-focused lyrics. While the song often stretches beyond the video’s 4:47 runtime in the live setting, the band left time for a jam section which led back to the refrain, “The canvas grows and time slows down/I’m home wherever my love surrounds.”
