Eric Krasno has released an acoustic rendition of “Callin Out To You” while self-quarantined amid the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The song, which he posted Sunday night on his SoundCloud, was originally written by Krasno and Dave Gutter years ago for Tedeschi Trucks Band. The song originally appeared on TTB’s 2013 album Made Up My Mind, where it received its initial acoustic treatment from Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.

Krasno puts his own unique spin on the older song as he washes the track in reverb, giving it a mysterious and mystical tone. The Soulive guitarist’s stoic lyricism shines through the effects-laden track with lines that transport a listener like, “Walking with a mason jar of fireflies/she can’t see the light she needs,” as well as the prescient advice repeated at the song’s end, “You gotta do right by your woman/ and she’ll do right by you.”

The simplistic acoustic guitar, in contrast with Krasno’s typically roaring electric instrument, highlights a kind of delicateness that this time of isolated contemplation seems to have inspired.

Krasno is one of many musicians using his time in quarantine to create new music in a distraction-free environment. Trey Anastasio has been on a tear this past week as he released four new songs in just five days from his home studio. Listen to “Lost In The Pack“, “When The Words Go Away“, “Timeless“, and “I Never Needed You Like This Before“.
