Foo Fighters on Wednesday continued the rollout of new album But Here We Are with the release of “Under You”, a lyrically vulnerable rocker that finds Dave Grohl grappling with the concept of moving on following the sudden passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022. But Here We Are, the first Foo Fighters album since Hawkins’ passing, is due out June 2nd via Roswell Records and RCA Records.

Foo Fighters described But Here We Are as “the first chapter of the band’s new life,” calling it “the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.” But Here We Are marks a cyclical journey for the band, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear especially, as Foo Fighters once again becomes a cathartic way to communally process grief at high decibels. Grohl originally formed the band in 1994 following the death of his Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain.

Foo Fighters will return to touring for the first time since Hawkins’ death beginning on May 24th in Gilford, NH. The band will remain on the road throughout much of the year with a mix of high-profile festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Boston Calling, Riot FestAustin City Limits, and others alongside a number of headlining shows. The band has not yet announced who is playing drums, though Pearl Jam‘s Matt Cameron is adamant that it is not him. Tickets and a full list of tour dates are available on the band’s website.

Fans may finally get some clarity on the drummer front this Sunday, May 21st when Foo Fighters host a free global livestream event billed as Preparing Music For Concerts. The in-studio livestream, set to take place at 8:00 p.m BST / 3:00 p.m. EST / 12:00 p.m. PST, is due to feature “debut performances of new songs, behind-the-scenes footage, and a few surprises straight from [the band’s Studio] 606.” Claim your free ticket to the Foo Fighters studio livestream on Sunday, May 2nd via Veeps here. The stream will also be available to watch on-demand after the fact.

Foo Fighters – “Under You” (Lyric Video)

Foo Fighters – “Under You” Lyrics

I woke up and walked a million miles today
I’ve been looking up and down for you
All this time it still feels just like yesterday
That I walked a million miles with you

Over it
Think I’m getting over it
But, there’s no getting over it

There are times that I need someone
There are times I feel like no one
Sometimes I just don’t know what to do
There are days I can’t remember
There are days that last forever
Someday I’ll come out from under you
Out from under you

Someone said I’ll never see your face again
Part of me just can’t believe it’s true
Pictures of us sharing songs and cigarettes
This is how I’ll always picture you

Over it
Think I’m getting over it
There’s no getting over It

There are times that I need someone
There are times I feel like no one
Sometimes I just don’t know what to do
There are days I can’t remember
There are days that last forever
Someday I’ll come out from under you
Out from under you

There are times I think it’s over
There are times I can’t recover
Sometimes I just don’t know what to do
There are days I can’t remember
There are days that last forever
Someday I’ll come out from under you
Out from under you
