Following the success of the first socially-distanced editions of The Funk Sessions earlier this month, Live For Live Music is excited to announce the next installment of the beloved collaborative funk residency at Denver’s Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. The two-night, four-show run will take place on Thursday, March 11th and Friday, March 12th, with an early show and a late show each night. A limited number of in-person tickets for each of the four performances will go on sale on Tuesday, February 23rd at 12:00 p.m. MT here.
In addition to the live concerts, Live For Live Music will offer live streams of the late shows on both Thursday, March 11th and Friday, March 12th. Donate any amount at FunkSessions.com to receive streaming links. Donations from the live stream, as well as a portion of in-person ticket sales, will benefit Conscious Alliance, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting communities in crisis through hunger relief and youth empowerment.
Throughout 2019 and into early 2020, Live For Live Music and Cervantes’ The Funk Sessions grew into a beloved tradition in the Denver music scene, bringing together the best of the best from across the live music spectrum for monthly funk throw-downs. The March 2021 Funk Sessions lineup continues that trend with an exciting septet comprised of vocalist Corey Frye (The Main Squeeze), guitarist Craig Brodhead (Turkuaz), drummer Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power), bassist Kevin Scott (Col. Bruce Hampton, Jimmy Herring), keyboardist Joey Porter (The Motet), saxophonist Drew Sayers (The Motet), and trumpeter Eric Benny Bloom (Lettuce).
The seated, socially-distanced shows will comply with strict health and safety guidelines. In addition to the drastically-reduced capacity and distanced seating, the events will require attendees to wear a mask at all times while not seated at their tables. All attendees must remain at their table for the duration of the shows except when visiting the restroom. Attendees seated at different tables will not be permitted to commingle during the events. In order to prevent crowding, drink orders will not be taken at the venue bar. See below for a full list of safety precautions in place for the event.
To secure your live stream for either night, make a donation of any size below or via FunkSessions.com.
