Ghost Light stopped by Brooklyn Bowl on Friday as part of the band’s ongoing The Healing Tour. The indie jam outfit composed of Tom Hamilton (lead guitar, vocals), Raina Mullen (lead vocals, guitar), Holly Bowling (keys), Scotty Zwang (drums), and recent addition Taylor Shell (bass) played two sets drawn mostly from its new album, The Healing, and previous Hamilton-led project American Babies.
Ghost Light opened the show with the aptly titled “Opening Credits”, off The Healing. Tom Hamilton then took charge during the first American Babies song of the night, “Synth Driver”. “Take Some Time” and “Dig a Hole”, two more tracks from The Healing came next, followed by the would-be title track from the band’s debut album, Best Kept Secrets (the song is actually singular, “Best Kept Secret”). Ghost Light came full circle to close the first set with its latest title track, “The Healing”.

After a short intermission, Ghost Light returned for set two, opening with “They Sing ‘Old Time Religion'”, another American Babies tune, which led into “Lead Weight” and “Beyond/Before”. The band then returned to The Healing, excavating the album closer, “Don’t Say Goodnight Just Yet” before segueing back into “Lead Weight” and “Best Kept Secret”. After interpolating American Babies’ “Swimming at Night”, the group returned to “Best Kept Secret” once more to close the set.
For the encore, Ghost Light offered one last American Babies tune, “Fever Dreams”.
