Ghost Light will return on October 7th with the band’s sophomore album, The Healing. Announced on Tuesday, the album will mark the follow-up to the band’s 2019 debut Best Kept Secret and also signal the quintet’s first LP with recent addition Taylor Shell (bass) who joined from the now-defunct Turkuaz back in March.

The eight-track album from the prominent touring act will feature recent live staples including “Take Some Time”, “Don’t Say Goodnight Just Yet”, the title track, and more. Along with Tuesday’s announcement, the quintet of Tom Hamilton (guitar, vocals), Raina Mullen (guitar, vocals), Holly Bowling (keyboards), Scotty Zwang (drums), and Shell shared the sophomore single, “Take Some Time”, which arrives five months after the lead single, “Don’t Say Goodnight Just Yet“.

With just one studio album to its name, Ghost Light’s sound in a controlled environment is still a moving target. On “Take Some Time”, the group takes on a pop-forward aesthetic with Mullen going full Stevie Nicks as Zwang kicks out an indie-rock power ballad beat.

“The story is less the fallout as it is the recovery,” Hamilton said of the album. “Sticking with it. Staying the course in the face of adversity, uncomfortable conversations or situations. The path to health and healing is often not the path of least resistance but the path of perseverance and doing the work.”
