On Saturday, May 30th, over 70 artists and thousands of fans came together for Quarantine Comes Alive, a virtual music festival that raised over $150,000 for a litany of charities via the comprehensive PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The 15-hour live stream marathon featured virtual performances and never-before-seen videos by an array of artists from around the world including The Ghost of Paul Revere, who delivered a pair of covers of two well-known classic rock tunes in Bruce Springsteen‘s “Atlantic City” and Bob Dylan‘s “I Shall Be Released”. Of course, we’d also be remiss in not also mentioning The Band with regard to these two covers, as they were the first to record Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” for their debut album, Music from Big Pink, and famously released a bluegrass-tinged arrangement “Atlantic City” on their 1993 album, Jericho.
The two-song segment featured all three core members of the band—Griffin Sherry (guitar/vocals), Max Davis (banjo/vocals), and Sean McCarthy (bass/vocals)—alongside touring drummer Charles Gagne and harmonica player Jackson Kincheloe performing from their respective quarantines.
The charisma and levity with which The Ghost of Paul Revere approached their Quarantine Comes Alive set was no surprise. The band has been hosting a wide array of live streams during the ongoing shutdowns to keep fans entertained. Earlier this month, the band took part in the fan-less live stream performance series at Maine’s State Theatre which are live-streamed for fans across the country. They also recently announced a Live At The Drive-In series at Maine’s Narrow Gauge Cinema on June 25th–28th, which quickly sold out.

As Max Davis explained to Live For Live Music about The Ghost of Paul Revere’s Quarantine Comes Alive performance,
It was such an honor to be a part of Live for Live Music’s Quarantine Comes Alive. It’s no small feat to simulate the festival experience, host so many incredible artists, and bring people together for such a dynamic cause. In times like these, that type of undertaking is beyond inspirational. As you can tell from our introduction, we, just as all musicians, are trying to figure out music creation in this new landscape and it’s difficult! But the dedication, positivity, and hard work of the team at L4LM continue to motivate us to adapt and overcome the challenges we’re facing. That kind of attitude is in high demand right now, so we are thankful to be one of voices to share and promote it. We hope you enjoy these two versions of some of our favorite songs!
If you enjoyed the performance, the band asks that you make a donation to the Equal Justice Initiative. Watch The Ghost of Paul Revere’s Quarantine Comes Alive performance below:
