Goose stopped by South Side Ballroom in Dallas, TX on Saturday. The Connecticut-based jam quintet played two cover-heavy sets featuring songs by The Wood Brothers and Nina Simone as well as the band’s debut of Steppenwolf‘s “Born To Be Wild”.

Goose kicked off the night with a succinct seven-song set starting with “Everything Must Go”, a song the band recently debuted at Pullman Yards in Atlanta. Then, after playing “The Whales”, from Goose’s most recent album, Dripfield, the band preempted its own “Atlas Dogs” with a cover of The Wood Brothers’ “Atlas”. Next came “Dr. Darkness”, followed by an ’80s synth version of “Indian River” with a “Welcome to Delta” jam. “Rockdale” closed the first set.

Goose – “Everything Must Go” – 10/15/22

Goose opened set two with fan favorite “Empress Of Organos”, which featured a tease of the Jurassic Park theme from bassist Trevor Weekz. “Silver Rising” then preceded a sped-up rendition of “Echo Of A Rose”, which gave way to Nina Simone’s arrangement of the traditional spiritual “Sinnerman”. “Madhuvan” then segued directly into the band’s live debut of “Born To Be Wild”. After getting the crowd’s motor running with Steppenwolf’s 1968 biker anthem, the band continued on to “Echo Of A Rose” before returning to “Madhuvan” to close the set. For the encore, Goose returned to play “Your Ocean” and “White Lights”.
