“The Long and Winding Road” led Greensky Bluegrass to Huntington, NY on Sunday where the band brought out members of Melt to close the show with The Beatles‘ “Let It Be”. The concert at The Paramount marked only the second Greensky Bluegrass performance of the classic singalong after the band debuted it by audience request last summer in Michigan.
Sunday’s show marked the midpoint of Greensky’s stretch of concerts with the rising New York soul-pop darlings of Melt, who are aboard the jamgrass band’s tour through the end of the week. Greensky’s ongoing winter trek features an array of exciting openers including Melt, Molly Tuttle (solo), Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, and The High Hawks, providing plenty of chances for onstage collaboration. On the band’s most recent run of shows with Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel, Greensky did not hesitate to bring out the Allman Brothers Band kin for some Southern rock classics.
Similarly, GSBG didn’t let this opportunity with Melt go to waste. When the band returned to the stage for an encore after the two-set show, they brought along some extra muscle with the additions of vocalist Veronica Stewart-Frommer and guitarist Marlo Shankweiler. Armed with powerhouse vocalists Paul Hoffman and Veronica, the “Let It Be” cover was a cathartic sendoff to the evening as the two traded off verses. Meanwhile, Marlo deftly found a place in the string band for an electric guitar solo before Hoffman and Veronica came together for the song and the evening’s crescendo.

Greensky Bluegrass’ tour rolls on to Buffalo next for a show on Wednesday at the Town Ballroom. The band also just announced its return to Red Rocks with keyboardist Holly Bowling and special guest The California Honeydrops and Andy Frasco and the U.N.
