Voice actor H. Jon Benjamin has released a new project and it’s not a low-budget cartoon. The golden voice behind the shows like Archer and Bob’s Burgers has released his second jazz album under the monicker Jon Benjamin – Jazz Daredevil, The Soundtrack Collection, that sees him putting a fresh spin on classic TV and movie themes.
The album follows 2015’s Well, I Should Have…*, which featured slightly more conventional jazz arrangements that were still imbued with Benjamin’s iconic wit, with titles like the four-part movement “I Can’t Play Piano” and “Soft Jazzercise”.

The Soundtrack Collection hears the Jazz Daredevil paired up with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra for a number of iconic songs from TV and film that might not ordinarily fight the jazz realm. The album features takes on “Danger Zone” from Top Gun, “Axel F” from Beverly Hills Cop, the theme from Miami Vice, “Also Sprach Zarathustra” from 2001: A Space Odyssey (though Phish beat him to the punch on that one), and many more.
Along with The Soundtrack Collection, Benjamin shared a preview for the record that highlights the humor that has kept him working for a quarter century. Watch the trailer below and stream The Soundtrack Collection via Spotify.
