Connecticut’s “heavy future groove” trio, lespecial, is taking their 2020 Serene Winter Cheen tour to Colorado this March with four consecutive headlining performances across the Centennial State.

The Colorado leg of the band’s Serene Winter Cheen tour will first see lespecial head to Steamboat Springs for a show at Old Town Pub on March 12th. The following day (3/13) the band heads to Denver for a show at Bluebird Theater with support from Schema Things and Xoa. From there, a stop at Boulder’s Fox Theatre on Saturday (3/14) with Chewy&Bach and Kaleid will set up an unforgettable (and free) Sunday show at Ullrs Tavern in Winter Park with Drumatrix (3/15).

Additionally, lespecial has a host of dates scheduled into the spring months, including shows in New Hampshire (4/18), Pennsylvania (4/25), and New York (5/1). Furthermore, the band’s festival schedule has quickly filled up with upcoming appearances at Domefest, Flyday Music Festival, Jetlag Festival, Camp Bisco, JamFam Music Festival, and more.

Next week’s four-night run through Colorado comes just days after the band released a brand new single, “The Vessel”, which acts as the lead single from lespecial’s forthcoming full-length album. A followup to the band’s 2017 release, Cheen, lespecial’s third studio effort is scheduled to arrive this fall.

Along with the single release, the band also shared the official video for “The Vessel”, which spotlights all three members in bassist Luke Bemand, multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Jonny Grusauskas, and drummer Rory Dolan on the wall behind them.

In a press release, Grusauskas explained, “[‘The Vessel’] Started as a syncopated bass groove on a synth patch that we made with Space Jesus when he was at our studio, and we put words to it later.” He continued, “It’s about traveling, be it through the inconceivable vastness of the cosmos or the unseen realms beyond the physical.”

lespecial has no shortage of new studio recordings. Just a month before releasing “The Vessel”, the band treated fans to a studio cover of Aphex Twin‘s “Alberto Balsalm”. Filmed at Beartrax Studio in Millerton, NY, by MKDevo, lespecial’s take on “Alberto Balsalm” is yet another example of the band’s desire to carve their own path through the modern music landscape. Aphex Twin, who is known for his production of techno and ambient electronic music, is not often the subject of full-band covers. The band truly makes it their own with this rendition, which features top-notch guitar and keyboard melodies by Grusauskas layered atop a reliable rhythm section from Bemand and Dolan. Throughout the video are clips of the band exploring the New York scenery, which pairs fittingly to the song’s vibe.
