Organizers of LOCKN’ have announced details of a Goose-centric festival dubbed Fred the Festival, set to take place at the LOCKN’ Farm in Arrington, VA August 20th–22nd, 2021.

The lineup will host four sets of Goose, as well as Dawes (one original set and a Black Sabbath Paranoid set), Cory WongDr. Dog, and more.

Also on tap for Fred the Festival will be Grateful Shred (x2), Hiss Golden Messenger, Sammy Rae & The Friends, aGOOSEtic Trio, and more.

The event will also feature some notable reunions, including Goose predecessor Vasudo featuring Rick Mitarotonda (guitar, vocals), Matt Campbell (keys, vocals), Peter Anspach (keys, vocals) Trevor Weekz (bass), and Jeff Arevalo (drums).

Also on tap to reunite for Fred is ElephantProof, the four-piece jazz/funk/EDM project formed at Berklee College of Music by Ben Atkind (drums), Sean Cronin (guitar), Shon Gordon (bass), and Chris Enright (keys), who will perform a late-night set.

“Last year, we were booked at LOCKN’ and we were so excited to perform on that legendary stage for the first time. We were all pretty disappointed after the festival was canceled so it’s an honor to be invited back to the farm for our own event,” Peter Anspach said in a statement. “Along with an amazing lineup of incredible bands, we have a ton of surprises planned and we can’t wait for all of you to #getinvolved.”

No Goose event would be complete without giving fans the opportunity to get involved, so an array of activities have been planned including yoga and hiking in addition to the musical lineup.

“LOCKN’ has hosted a lot of amazing performers over the years, from Tom Petty and Willie Nelson to Dead&Co and Phish,” Peter Shapiro, promoter of LOCKN’ Farm, said. “We are super psyched to mix that history with the new fire and energy that Goose brings. Let’s Get FRED!!!”

Tickets for Fred the Festival go on sale on Friday, June 4th at 10 a.m. ET, with both day and weekend passes available. For tickets and more information, visit the event website.

The announcement of Goose’s Fred The Festival at the LOCKN’ Farm joins a pair of other mini-fest announcements from LOCKN’ organizers on Wednesday. In addition to the Goose weekend, LOCKN’ Farm will also host a Joe Russo’s Almost Dead weekend featuring The Slip and Billy Martin & John Medeski (8/13–8/15) and Tedeschi Trucks weekend featuring The Marcus King BandLettuceJon Batiste, and more (8/27–8/31).

The pivot from one larger, four-day festival to three smaller, three-day festivals came as a result of the rapidly-developing pandemic picture for concerts in the summer of 2021.

As LOCKN’ organizers Dayglo Presents explained in a statement,

We have had an amazing seven years together at LOCKN’ the music festival, with hundreds of thousands of fans from across the world witnessing countless epic performances and collaborations by hundreds of legendary artists, and a lot of fun along the way. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, LOCKN’ has created some of the most beautiful and magical live music memories.

In this moment, considering the challenges of COVID-19, we feel like it’s time to do something different, something intimate, something new. While preserving the spirit of our four-day festival, LOCKN’ will become a destination — LOCKN’ Farm — staying true to the core of what LOCKN’ has always been about — unforgettable, unique, and authentic live experiences.
