DeMarco’s new recording appropriately arrived on Christmas Day, after the guitarist spent the morning tracking his relaxed take on the holiday classic. The 2:53-minute cover hears Mac sing alongside some very minimalistic synths and a simple drum beat with the added sparkle of ringing bells. The stripped-down recording was shared onto DeMarco’s YouTube page along with the image of a Christmas tree ornament themed around Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine.
