DeMarco’s new recording appropriately arrived on Christmas Day, after the guitarist spent the morning tracking his relaxed take on the holiday classic. The 2:53-minute cover hears Mac sing alongside some very minimalistic synths and a simple drum beat with the added sparkle of ringing bells. The stripped-down recording was shared onto DeMarco’s YouTube page along with the image of a Christmas tree ornament themed around Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine.
Listen to what is hopefully the final holiday release of 2019 with Mac’s cover of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” below.

The song’s Christmas Day arrival caps what’s been another exciting year for DeMarco. The 29-year-old indie rock favorite started 2019 with the May release of his fourth full-length studio effort, Here Comes the Cowboy. DeMarco will close his year on a loud note as he’s set to join The Strokes for the rock band’s hometown New Year’s Eve show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on December 31st.
