Menahan Street Band, the New York City-based collective of funk and soul musicians, has released their first full-length album of new original material since 2012 with the arrival of The Exciting Sounds of Menahan Street Band this past Friday (2/26) on Daptone Records.

The 14-track album from the band–comprised of members of The Roots, The Dap-Kings, Lee Fields and the Expressions, The Black Keys (live band), Budos Band–also notably marks their first studio release since the deaths of their longtime collaborators and Daptone labelmates Sharon Jones (2016) and Charles Bradley (2017).

The recordings featured on the new album were self-produced by MSB guitarist Thomas Brenneck and recorded at Diamond Mine Studios in their native New York City. The album’s tracklisting includes the previously-shared singles “The Duke”, “The Starchaser”, “Midnight Morning.”, and “Devil’s Respite”.
