[Update 1/24/25]: Mountain Jam Festival has revealed the third “surprise headliner” for its 2025 edition, Goose. The Connecticut-based quintet will round out the weekend on Sunday, June 22nd following three days of music by Khruangbin (Friday, June 20th), Mt. Joy (Saturday, June 21st), and many more at Belleayre Mountain in Highmount, NY.
In New York, Goose has been rapidly ascending to ever-bigger venues and festivals for several years. The band recently announced its debut headlining performance at Madison Square Garden, due to take place the week after Mountain Jam on June 28th. Goose recently made its first MSG appearance as part of the star-studded SOULSHINE benefit for hurricane relief and recovery in North Carolina and Florida. The group made the most of its brief set that night, bringing out a string of notable guests for original tunes “Give It Time” (with Robert Randolph on pedal steel) and “Hungersite” (with Derek Trucks on guitar) and covers “Baby Don’t You Do It” (Marvin Gaye, in the style of The Band; with Susan Tedeschi on vocals and Derek Trucks on guitar) and “The Way It Is” (Bruce Hornsby, with Dave Matthews on guitar and vocals). [10/23/24]: After an extended hiatus, Mountain Jam Festival has officially announced its return, issuing a save the date for June 20th–22nd, 2025 at Belleayre Mountain in Highmount, NY. The beloved festival, which was a staple of the Northeast’s summer concert season for more than a decade, is set to reclaim its place in the festival pantheon after several years of absence.
Named after a song by The Allman Brothers Band, Mountain Jam was founded in 2005 by ABB guitarist and Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes in collaboration with Woodstock, NY’s iconic radio station, Radio Woodstock. Over the years, it grew from a single-day event to a multi-day extravaganza, attracting music lovers from across the country and earning the moniker “little Bonnaroo” from The New York Times. Held in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, the festival gained a reputation for its eclectic lineup, which leaned heavily on jam bands, rock, and roots music, with headlining sets from the likes of Gov’t Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, among others.

The festival was last held in 2019 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, with acts like Willie Nelson, Gov’t Mule, and The Avett Brothers topping the bill. It was a weekend filled with standout performances, but the following years brought uncertainty as the COVID-19 pandemic put the entire live music industry on pause. In the wake of the pandemic, Mountain Jam faced logistical challenges, and its future seemed unclear as other festivals slowly made their return.
The announcement of the 2025 dates marks a significant milestone, signaling the festival’s triumphant return to the live music scene. Watch the official Save the Date teaser video below, and visit the festival website for more info and updates.
