Papadosio has released “Chaga”, the latest single from the band’s upcoming Microdosio album. The song joins previously-released singles “Lion’s Mane“, “Cubensis“, and “Fly Agaric“.

The new Microdosio album, and its singles, mark the advent of a new concept for Papadosio. The veteran jamtronica act has decided to shake things up on its eighth studio album by simplifying and scaling down operations. This comes by way of an added focus on drums machines, samples, and synths and usage of less equipment.

“Chaga” opens with completely acoustic percussion that immediately separates the song from the rest of the Papadosio catalog, and earmarks it as the zenith of the Microdosio experiment. Before long, however, the band’s trademark synths and samples drop into a sort of looped groove. Soon enough, things settle down with a blinking phaser that provides a rising and falling base for gentle keys from Sam and Billy Brouse and punctuated bass notes from Rob McConnell. “Chaga” continues on in this groove, accented with a brief breakdown halfway through featuring Anthony Thogmartin‘s shimmering guitar in a prominent position. Soon enough, the band returns to the central groove where everyone contributes and nobody is on top, the communal way of Papapdosio.

The band said of the song in a social media post, “We hope that it supercharges your day and possibly your immune system.”

Listen to “Chaga”, the latest song from Papadosio’s forthcoming album, Microdosio, available everywhere on July 9th.

Like most bands, Papadosio has been forced to cancel or postpone many of its concerts over the next several months. The band’s next scheduled gig is not until May 30th, when Papadosio will play Hookahville 53 in Newark, OH. Given the ever-evolving situation of live music this summer, however, that appearance could be subject to change. Visit the band’s website for tour updates and information.
