Pearl Jam and their fans are celebrating the arrival of the band’s 11th studio album, Gigaton, out today via Monkeywrench/Republic Records.
Initially confirmed back in January, Gigaton acts as the veteran rock outfit’s first full-length studio effort since 2013’s Lightning Bolt, and was co-produced by Josh Evans alongside the band. While this was Evans’ first time working with Pearl Jam, he boasts an impressive resume with previous projects alongside similar acts like Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Mad Season, and PJ guitarist Mike McCready.

The new album includes previously released singles in “Quick Escape”, “Dance of the Clairvoyants”, and “Superblood Wolfmoon”, in addition to “River Cross” which debuted during a commercial that aired during this year’s Super Bowl. Leading up to its release on Friday, fans also had the chance to dial into the Gigaton phone hotline to hear some of the then-unreleased material on Gigaton.
“Making this record was a long journey,” McCready said about their latest studio effort back with January’s general announcement. “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on ‘Gigaton’ ultimately gave me greater love, awareness, and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”
