Ghost-Note stopped by the Industry City Bandshell in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday as part of the Industry City Summer 2022 Concert Series presented by Get It Right the First Time in association with Hometown Bar-B-Que. The group led by Snarky Puppy percussion duo Robert Sput Searight (Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar) and Nate Werth is currently in the midst of The Groove Train 2022 tour, with dates leading up to the band’s appearance at Joshua Tree Music Festival on October 7th.

Ghost-Note has been shuffling the lineup this tour, which is not unusual for the rotating funk collective. Thursday’s show featured drummer Devin Way filling in on percussion for Nate Werth, who was absent from the performance. The lineup also included Xavier Lynn on guitar, Justin “J-Mac Bass” McKinny (Liv Warfield, Chris Dave and the Drumhedz) on bass, Donique Xavier Taplin (Prince, Toto) on keyboards, Jonathan Mones (Funky Knuckles, RC & The Gritz) on alto sax and flute, and Mackenzie Green vocals.

Also present on Thursday were two very special guests, Sput’s two twin daughters, who were celebrating their 18th birthdays.

Ghost-Note will then head to Indy Jazz Fest in Indianapolis, IN tomorrow, Sunday, October 2nd before wrapping up the tour at Joshua Tree Music Festival on October 7th. The band then has a run European tour dates stretching through the rest of October and into early November. For tickets and more information, visit the band’s website.

Ghost-Note recently shared a new single, “Wait A Minute”, available now on all streaming platforms. Made in collaboration with Sput’s Sputacular Musik, the track includes lyrics by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert bandleader Louis Cato and features vocalist Nathan Myers and drummer Ash Soan. The band performed the track live in studio with Myers and Soan for an episode of Zildjian LIVE! Season 2 back in 2020. Click here to watch video of the performance.
