Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Welcomes Tomo Fujita For Summer Tour Closer In Swanzey [Photos/Video]

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong delivered a tour-closing performance at Northlands on Friday with a little help from guitarist Tomo Fujita. The show in Swanzey, NH marked the bird band’s last scheduled concert until Borderland Music Festival in mid-September.

The ever-relevant “Too Long” opened the show, followed by quick-hit fan-favorites “Overrun” and “High As Five” ahead of the second-ever performance of “Steal The Shade”. The song was debuted on 6/19/21 in Lafayette, NY, per Phantasy Tour.

Set one rolled on with “Pop Off” followed by the instrumental “Wireless” which kicked off an old-school R&B sandwich with “You Sexy Thing” and “My Girl” ahead of the “Wireless” reprisal. Pigeons then closed out the first frame with an “Upfunk” that gave Alex “Gator” Petropulos a chance to flex his muscles in a “Drums” segment.

Returning for set two, PPPP kicked off with fellow recently-debuted track “Skinner” and an always-welcome “Julia”. The band then welcomed Fujita to the stage for a flashy “Lightning”. Fujita settled in for a long stay as the expanded ensemble fired up “King Kong”, with the spunky monkey rolling into Stevie Wonder‘s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”. The band then brought “King Kong” back around before bidding farewell to Fujita. Set two came to an emotional close with one of the band’s many anthems, “Horizon”. Returning to the stage one last time, Pigeons opted with the fiery instrumental “Avalanche” to send everyone home.
