The early 2000s nu-metal scene will get its own moment of nostalgia with Sick New World, a new festival set to debut in Las Vegas next spring. Topping the inaugural edition, set for May 13th, 2023 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, are System of a Down, Korn, Deftones, and Incubus.
A number of reunions and returns dot the debut lineup, including the first Death Grips show since 2019. The new fest will host the reunited Flyleaf, featuring original singer Lacey Sturm, in addition to Coal Chamber‘s first concert since 2015. The Sisters Of Mercy will also stage their first U.S. performance in 14 years.
The Sick New World lineup also features Evanescence, Turnstile, Chevelle, Papa Roach, Mr. Bungle, 100 Gecs, Placebo, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, She Wants Revenge, KMFDM, Killing Joke, Spiritbox, Soulfly, Sevendust, P.O.D., Hoobastank, Kittie, Alien Ant Farm, Fever 333, HEALTH, Ho99o9, Filter, Lacuna Coil, Melvins, Failure, Stabbing Westward, Cold, Cradle of Filth, Body Count, The Birthday Massacre, Orgy, Monster Magent, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Loathe, Fiddlehead, Narrow Head, Scowl, and more.
This new event comes as the latest in a string of festivals capitalizing on ’90s and ’00s nostalgia. What began with When We Were Young Festival (also held at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds) has spread across the country to the new Adjacent Music Festival in Atlantic City, set for Memorial Day Weekend 2023. These developments also arrive as the classic Blink-182 lineup reunites with Tom DeLonge, propelling the group to a worldwide arena tour.
A pre-sale for tickets to Sick New World begins on Friday at 10 a.m. PT, followed by a general on-sale at 2 p.m. PT. See below for the full lineup.
