Brandon “Taz” Niederauer set the sports world ablaze with his scorching instrumental rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to the start of Sunday’s AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. The defending champion Chiefs would go on to win the game and score another trip to this year’s Super Bowl, but Taz was the unofficial winner thanks to his distortion-fueled take on the National Anthem on the national stage.
Since he couldn’t perform his solo take on the patriotic anthem from the game’s playing field due to COVID-19 restrictions, Niederauer and his gear were set up in front of the Lamar Hunt statue right outside Arrowhead Stadium. With his signature blue D’Angelico guitar dialed up to 11, Taz delivered an electrifying performance that had Twitter amped and ready before kickoff.
Watch Taz’s performance from Sunday’s game below and check out some real-time reactions to his anthem performance on Twitter.
