On Saturday night, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to New York City’s Beacon Theatre for the second show of their six-night residency.

The 12-piece band led by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi opened up their first set with “Anyhow”, the first track that appears on their 2016 Let Me Get By studio LP. The band continued on with originals “Do I Look Worried” and “Don’t Know What It Means” before working through a cover of The Box Tops‘ “The Letter”. The remainder of TTB’s first set featured a mix of originals and staple covers including “Right On Time”, Willie Nelson‘s “Somebody Pick Up My Pieces”, “Just As Strange”, “Midnight In Harlem”, and a set-closing cover of Spooner Oldham‘s “Sweet Inspiration”.

Following a brief set break, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the stage in an acoustic format, led by Derek and Susan sitting front and center. To kick off their four-song acoustic mini-set, the 12-piece dedicated a cover of the Derek Trucks Band‘s “Back Where I Started” to the band’s late drummer, Yonrico Scott, who passed away last Friday. The acoustic mini-set continued on with a cover of Derek and the Dominos‘ “I Am Yours”, “Meet Me At The Bottom”, and “When Will I Begin”.

Moving back into their electric format, TTB worked through fan-favorite “Let Me Get By” before inviting up Junior Mack to lend a helping hand on Derek and the Dominos’ “Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad”. The band kept on chuggin’ with Allen Toussaint‘s “Get Out Of My Life, Woman”, “They Don’t Shine”, and the beloved pairing of John Prine‘s “Angel From Montgomery” into Jerry Garcia‘s “Sugaree”. Following a take on Elmore James‘ “The Sky Is Crying”, TTB closed out their second set with “The Storm” into an explosive cover of the Allman Brothers Band‘s “Whipping Post”. The band returned to deliver a lone encore of Joe Cocker‘s “Space Captain”.
