Summer is almost here and Jack Black and Kyle Gass are ready to show off their beach bods with the new Tenacious D video for “Wicked Game”. The ballad originally performed by Chris Isaak has become a staple of the comedy/metal duo’s recent live performances.

Borrowing from Isaak’s original MTV “Video of the Year”-nominated 1989 clip which depicted a sultry beach day with supermodel Helena Christensen, Black and Gass hit the sand for a day of fun in the sun. The two buds frolic in the rolling waves in slow motion like a much more body-positive version of Baywatch. Juxtaposed against Gass in his tighty whities and Black in a one-piece bathing suit, the “Greatest Band on Earth” keeps the song’s tone serious for the quick 1:50-minute tribute.

The Chris Isaak cover comes at a time of renewed activity for The D, who last month released its first original song in five years, “Video Games“. The duo is currently in Europe on the Spicy Meatball Tour but will return to the States later this month to perform “Video Games” with a full orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the Game Awards Concert. Additionally, Tenacious D announced a headlining set at the All IN Music & Arts Festival in Indianapolis, IN in September. For tickets and a full list of tour dates visit the band’s website.
