The Disco Biscuits have announced an album release show at New York City’s Webster Hall on March 29th to celebrate the band’s highly anticipated ninth full-length studio album, Revolution in Motion—their first in over a decade.
Revolution in Motion has been characterized as “music aliens would love” and deemed a “space opera” by fans, marking the band’s third rock opera after Jon “Barber” Gutwillig‘s Hot Air Balloon (1998) and Marc Brownstein’s Chemical Warfare Brigade (2000). Last week, the band shared “Revolution in Motion, Pt. 1” along with a nearly seven-minute comic book-style animated film by 3D creators Blunt Action featuring a medley of all four tracks from Part 1 and introducing viewers to the world of Polyfuzia, Fuzzies, Space Trains, royal family drama, and the inevitable Freeze of Times Square to come.
“With a large part of the space opera taking place in New York City, we thought it was only appropriate to play a show there on the day of its release,” said keyboardist Aron Magner. “After our late-night rager at the Palladium over our New Year’s run in 2023, we can’t wait to get back to NYC and tell this story from start to finish.”
Barber initially conceptualized Revolution in Motion with friend and collaborator Joey Friedman in August 2021. The pair began writing songs for the album in early 2022 with Magner, and the band debuted all 14 of them live as they were completed.
“The Biscuits’ fans have been loving these songs for over a year, and while some have been able to figure out the underlying story, we think they will gain a whole new appreciation for these songs once they learn all the layers to the narrative and the depth of the characters,” Friedman said.
