[3/11/24]: After announcing last month that he would reform the Warren Haynes Band for a string of 2024 performances, Warren Haynes has announced the long-dormant outfit’s first U.S. dates in more than a decade, billed as the Now Is The Time Tour. The latest iteration of the Gov’t Mule frontman’s late 2000s-era project—set to feature Haynes (guitar, vocals) alongside John Medeski (keys, Medeski Martin & Wood), Kevin Scott (bass, Gov’t Mule), and Terence Higgins (drums, Dirty Dozen Brass Band)—previously announced a pair of 2024 festival dates in Europe.

The three domestic dates of the Now Is The Time Tour, announced on Monday, will pair the Warren Haynes Band with the Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience for a three-night, three-city June stretch set to hit Bethel, NY’s Bethel Woods Center For The Arts (6/7), Boston, MA’s Leader Bank Pavilion (6/8), and Canandaigua, NY’s CMAC (6/9).

All three shows will be conducted by Rich Daniels of Chicago’s City Lights Orchestra, leading locally sourced orchestras in each market including the Rochester Philharmonic at the Canandaigua date. Each night will feature three sets including two symphonic sets and one by the Warren Haynes Band. Per a press release, “The brand-new show will explore all aspects of Warren’s incredible catalog and career including music from Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, his solo albums, and more set to never-before-heard arrangements for all songs, except the Garcia tunes which will find Haynes revisiting compositions from the groundbreaking Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration tour.”

“I’m really excited to have this opportunity to tour with both my new band and the Symphonic Experience,” said Haynes in a statement. “We will be reinterpreting a lot of different music from the storied ‘songbooks’ of many of the bands I’ve been fortunate to have been a part of over the last three decades or so combined with material from my solo work, including new music. Many of these aforementioned classic songs will be interpreted by an orchestra for the first time ever and doing sets with both the symphony and the band alone will give us the platform to perform a multi-dimensional show night after night.”

Fan Club pre-sale and Citi Card (Bethel and Boston) and American Express (Canandaigua) pre-sales for the Warren Haynes Band Now Is The Time Tour will be available starting on Wednesday, March 13th at 10:00 a.m. ET with local promoter and Ticketmaster pre-sales beginning on Thursday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. ET. [2/11/24]: Warren Haynes is set to revive his Warren Haynes Band with a new-look lineup for a 2024 tour, the Gov’t Mule guitarist and vocalist announced on Friday.

In a social media post announcing the first two Warren Haynes Band shows in a decade, Haynes said that the latest iteration of his solo project will feature three of his familiar collaborators including avant-garde jazz keyboard legend John Medeski (Medeski Martin & Wood), Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott, and beloved New Orleans drummer Terence Higgins (Dirty Dozen Brass Band).

The group’s only two confirmed performances are a pair of European festival performances in June at Holland International Blues Festival in the Netherlands and The Azkena Rock Festival in Spain, respectively, though Haynes noted in his post that the band will be “hitting the road beginning this summer” and that updates on additional performances are forthcoming.

Haynes first formed the Warren Haynes Band in the late ’00s. The earliest iteration of the group featured The Meters bassist George Porter Jr., Dumpstaphunk keyboardist and vocalist Ivan Neville, former Dumpstaphunk drummer Raymond Weber, keyboardist Ian McLagan, tenor saxophonist Ron Holloway, and vocalist Ruthie Foster. They played their first-ever live show at the 2010 edition of Haynes’ Christmas Jam and released an album, Man In Motion, that debuted in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Following the album’s release, Warren Haynes Band hit the road for a lengthy tour featuring a live lineup featuring Terence Higgins (drums), Ron Holloway (tenor sax), Ron Johnson (bass), Nigel Hall (keys), and various vocalists including Foster, Alfreda Gerald, and Alecia Chakour. A live album recorded during the tour at Austin, TX’s Moody Theater was released in 2012. After wrapping up the 2012 campaign with high-profile shows at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Christmas Jam, Haynes put the project on the shelf. The band’s last performance took place at the 2013 edition of LOCKN’ Festival.

For now, Haynes and Scott are busy on the road with Gov’t Mule for the band’s Thirty Years Strong Tour throughout this month.
